About us
Mancala Collective is a strategic communications partner for movement leaders, research institutions, and foundation partners who are building power for social and racial justice. We help mission-driven leaders by translating research, advocacy, and lived experience into communications strategies that shape public understanding, influence stakeholders, and mobilize communities.
We develop strategic messaging, build media presence, and create targeted communications campaigns that help leaders articulate their vision, reach stakeholders, and mobilize the communities closest to the work.
Our guiding belief is simple: organizations with clear and compelling narrative frameworks, confident spokespeople, and durable communications systems will be best positioned to create lasting change.
Who We Are
What We Answer To
There's an African proverb that says, "It's not what you're called, but what you answer to that matters." We answer to the movements we believe in, those working to achieve social justice, often without the resources or visibility they deserve.
Our name comes from Mancala, one of the world's oldest strategy games, with deep roots in African history. The word itself is derived from the Arabic word "naqala," meaning "to move." That's exactly what we do: we help leaders transform complex ideas into compelling narratives and move critical work from the margins to the center of public conversation.
Our Approach
We don't start with tactics. We start with understanding. Before recommending a single strategy, we invest time learning your mission, your community, and the context you're navigating. This allows us to develop communications strategies that are grounded in what really matters to you and the people you serve.
We believe movements don’t just need stronger messaging, they need infrastructure. That's why our work is designed to build your internal capacity over time, so your team can sustain momentum long after our partnership ends.
our Founder
Mancala Collective was founded by Misha Cornelius Green, a communications strategist and leader with more than 15 years of experience building narrative power inside movement organizations, research institutions, and community-led initiatives working for racial and social justice.
